The Jotunheim mountain road
This 45-kilometer-long toll road winds through open and easily accessible mountain terrain. From the road you can enjoy magnificent views across large lakes and up toward spectacular mountain peaks.

Herds of domesticated reindeer can be seen grazing in the area, and at Store Nuten there are plenty of traces after old animal pits used to trap reindeer.
Experience mountain farming along Vinster lake and take time to see all the grazing goats, cattle and sheep. Sanddalen is a heritage listed area.

With Haugseter Fjellstue as a starting point, you have excellent opportunities for canoeing, rambling, peak ascents, fishing trips and bicycle trips.
At Kvålseter, you can follow the signs to the 17th century falcon facility.
At Nørdre Sandåa, restoration is underway on an old fishing facility.

Skåbu is one of Norway’s highest agricultural villages, and features a beautiful church, a village museum and a factory producing the famous Krogenæs furniture.
There is a petrol station and several shops at Beitostølen and a petrol station and food store in Skåbu.

The road usually opens around 20 June and closes in October, all depending on weather and snow conditions.
