From Dalseter you can reach many interesting places in the Gudbrandsdal area. If you have a car, you can easily get to Sjoa for whitewater rafting, the mountain Galdhøpiggen(2469 a.b.sl), Hunderfossen family park, the city of Lillehammer, the home of the Norwegian author Bjørnstjerne Bjørnson at Aulestad, the historic falconry cabin and the culture path in Skåbu.

Summertime you can also drive through several beautiful mountain roads in our area:Peer Gynt Mountain Road starts in Espedalen and goes over the mountain to Fefor, Gålå, Fagerhøi and down to Skei in Gausdal. In the beginning of August - the Norwegian author Henrik Ibsens famous play “Peer Gynt” is performed outside at Gålå, and the hotel offer a limited number of tickets with stay for this show each year.

Folk music is a musical genre with rich traditions in Gudbrandsdalen. Often, the folk music was related to local events, mountain farm life and everyday duties.
When you exit the Peer Gynt road and travel down into the valley of Gudbrandsdalen, you will find Rudi Gård. Øystein Rudi from Sør-Fron got his first fiddle at the age of seven. Today, he is one of many musicians who carry on the heritage from the older generation of fiddlers. Rudi is a fiddler and a culture farmer, with the emphasis on culture, rather than farmer. He and his family offer cultural experiences in untraditional surroundings.


Peer Gynt farm road goes along the east side of Gudbrandsdalen up from Vinstra past Nordi farm Hågå –the "Per Gynt Farm" – where the local Per, who was the inspiration for Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, dwelled. The road then continues up to Sødorpfjellet across to Kvamsfjellet and Rondablikk before it descends down to Kvam further north in Gudbrandsdalen.

The Jotunheimen mountain road goes from Skåbu over Bygdin to Valdresflya, and has many a time been characterized as one of the most beautiful mountain passes in Norway.

In Sikkilsdalen the tradition is kept alive when stallions and their herds of mares and foals are let free to roam at the end of June every year. Sikkilsdalseter has an old mountain lodge from the 17th century, and traditions are kept strong and rich at this charming summer farm.
Summertime you can drive all the way in by car, while at winter you need to park 12km away and get transported by weasel or horse and sleigh.
